OUR MISSION:

Awareness and Education

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (S.E.N.D) can affect a child or young person’s ability to learn. The Voices for Autism Network aims to raise awareness

01.

About VSN

The Voices for SEND Support Network (VSN) is an umbrella organization dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) families affected by autism, with a particular focus on the Somali community in London and other regions of the UK.

02.

Mission

The mission of The Voices for SEND Support Network (VSN) is to provide comprehensive support and resources to Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) families affected by autism, with a particular emphasis on addressing the needs of the Somali community in London and across the UK.

03.

Vision

Our vision at VSN is to foster a society where every BAME family impacted by autism feels understood, supported, and equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to thrive. We envision a future where cultural barriers are overcome, and evidence-based interventions are accessible to all.

04.

Background

The need for VSN arose due to the limited research and resources available to BAME families impacted by autism. Many families within these communities faced significant barriers to accessing appropriate support and interventions, leading to a reliance on traditional healing practices.

Our Core Objectives

— 01

Advocacy and Support

We advocate for the rights and needs of BAME families affected by autism, providing tailored support services to address their unique challenges and empower them to navigate the complexities of the autism landscape.

— 02

Collaboration and Partnership

VSN collaborates with community organizations, healthcare providers, and policymakers to foster partnerships that promote inclusivity, access to services, and cultural competence in autism support networks.

— 03

Research and Innovation

We support research initiatives aimed at advancing knowledge and understanding of autism within BAME communities, driving evidence-based interventions and practices that are culturally relevant and effective.
